World War 2

World War 2 was the largest war ever to occur on this planet. It was fought between all of the major powers of the world at that time, the main countries being Germany, Russia, Britain, US and France. WW2 set the borders of many countries and formed many new countries. A lot of these new countries were Russian sattelite states. The formation of these new countries allowed other countries to gain more power. The main countries that grew more powerful after the war were Russia and the US. Throughout the years after the war these two superpowers would stuggle for power over the world. When the new European countries were formed the US wanted them to be democratic, capitalist states whereas the Russians wanted them to be communist dictatorships, the majority of these countries ended up as communist dictatorships as they were more closesly located to Russia then to the Western European countries. This brought a decline in the growth of these countries with the rest of the world which can still be seen today. For example Ukraine has not grown at the same pace as the Uk. WW2 has affected the world greatly. The majority of the countries that we know today would not exist without WW2. Even though WW2 was a terrible war that no one wanted to happen, it still happened and the outcome of the war has shaped the world as we know it today. Without people like Hitler and Stalin the world today would be in a worse state. We would still be having many small wars in Europe and now there are next to no wars taking place in Europe. WW2 taught us the importance of peace. With peace comes more jobs in both tertiary and secondary economic activities allowing people to have a job without fear of being conscripted into the military.
